Free Dance A Story: The Nutcracker for ages 3-5

Join us at Austin Public Library for Dance-A-Story Movement and Story-time presented by Ballet Austin’s Young Children’s Division.

Introduce your child to the joy of dance through the story of THE NUTCRACKER! This class is narrative journey as students are led through a series of movement and ballet-based activities that appeal to both girls and boys. The class is designed to enhance physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills through collaborative and cooperative games.

Elf Pub Run + Screening

Elf Pub Run is looking for other humans that share our affinity for elf culture.

Grab all your buddies and meet at the Paramount Theatre. From there, you’ll pass through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest and through the sea of swirly twirly gumdrops to a top secret location and world of Elf-themed fun including snowball fights, burping contests and sing-a-longs. Then you’ll skip back to the Paramount for more festivities in our Gimbel’s department store lobby, sip Elfish cocktails and the world’s best cup of hot chocolate.

Their Throne of Lies awaits and Pub Runners will enjoy tickets for beer, sodas, and popcorn followed by the annual costume contest, with beef and cheese prizes, and screening of Elf!

Costumes encouraged, smiling is a must. Smiling’s everyone’s favorite!

5th Annual Austin Area Jazz Festival

Austin Area Jazz Festival returns for its 5th annual show!

The 2019 Austin Area Jazz Festival begins on Friday, November 29th with ‘An Intimate Evening of Jazz’ at the Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex (MYEC), from 8 PM – 12 AM, doors open at 7 PM.

The daylong outdoor festival celebration will take place Saturday, November 30th at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (MAAC) from 1 PM – 9 PM, gates open at 12 PM.

Friday’s lineup includes: Mike Hamilton, Tom Brown and Grammy Award Winning Musician Kirk Whalum. Saturday’s lineup will feature: Walter Beasley, Avery*Sunshine, Jeff Bradshaw, Cindy Bradley and the legendary musician Sheila E.

General admission tickets are $35 on Friday and $55 on Saturday. The VIP Weekend pass is $125, which gives you access into both events. For tickets and information visit austinareajazzfestival.com.

Thanksgiving and Holiday Camps in Steiner Ranch, from November 25 to December 31.

Join Sportball for a wonderful day of camp at Town Square in Steiner Ranch. Players will learn two sports per day as well as enjoy arts and crafts. Camp is perfect for children ages 3-8 years old. Choose your day or the entire week.

About SPORTBALL

Classes and Camps are so much fun with Sportball, where children can develop the skills and confidence to get in the game of basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball, football, hockey, tennis, and golf!

Their highly trained coaches play one sport a day and break down skills into kid-sized bites of fun that promote the fundamentals and encourage teamwork. Older ages work towards playing real game scrimmages!

Hell Yes Project: CTFB Volunbeer Night

The ABGB is teaming up with Central Texas Food Bank on the last Tuesdays of the month for an evening of volunteering at the Food Bank’s warehouse.

And, after a shift of putting your hands, heart and soul to work, you can enjoy the satisfying taste of a cold ABGB beer. That’s what they’re calling Volunbeer Night. And they want you and your crew to join them.

Different good times are planned for each month! Activities, speakers, and music are all coming up on tap!

Mark your calendars for the last Tuesday of each month. The shift runs from 6pm-7:30pm, and brews and events go 7:30pm-9pm.

* All Volunbeer Night volunteers must be 21+. Volunteers will have to provide proof of ID for beverage service.

* Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone who is 21+.

* All Warehouse Volunteers must be age 8 and up.

* Opened-toe shoes, high heels, tank tops or sleeveless shirts are not permitted attire when volunteering. You or members of your group will be asked to change shoes and/or dress upon arrival when wearing any of these items.

* Please drink responsibly and make prior transportation arrangements as needed.

* Before you volunteer in our Warehouse, please watch this video to make sure this opportunity is a good fit for you or your team members

* Contact them if you need additional accommodations to support your volunteer experience.

Entry to the event is FREE with registration.

PARTICIPANTS

All participants are local artists and performers. They have been selected to represent a diverse variety of mediums, heritages, and styles in Austin’s visual and performing arts scenes.

Enjoy shopping original and handmade collections of paintings, prints, photography, jewelry and accessories, glassworks, and ceramics. At the same time, be entertained with live performances by local musicians and dancers. Food from local vendors will also be available for purchase.
