Home for the Holiday Series: The Thin Man

The holidays are a period of travel for many of us as we venture to far-off homes and hearths. For some of us though, Austin is our home, and we are staying home for the holidays. With that in mind, we are presenting some of our favorite Hollywood holiday classics on the big screen.

WIlliam Powell and Myrna Loy star as one of the screen’s most effervescent couples as they navigate a Christmas in New York and try to solve a murder in this adaptation of Dashiell Hammett’s sly, gin-soaked novel. Pure fun. In 35mm.

Directed by W.S. Van Dyke

Kids Camp: Paddington

Kids Camp: Paddington

Date: 12/20 – 12/31 | Time: 10:45 AM | Location: Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Slaughter Lane

Kids Camp: Paddington. This lovely adaptation of the classic children’s book by Michael Bond introduces a new generation of kids to the beloved bear in the red hat.

After an earthquake destroys Paddington’s home and kills his uncle, the orphan bear (voiced by Ben Whishaw) stows away alone on a ship with only his red hat, beat-up suitcase, and jars of marmalade with him in the hopes that someone will help him once he gets to London.

PADDINGTON takes the entire family on a fun and sometimes fur-raising adventure. It touches of themes of kindness and family, but balances the serious themes with plenty of slapstick comedy. It’s a refreshing update of a classic tale that will leave audiences as satisfied as a bear with a belly full of marmalade.

“This is a sweet film for young kids, with enough slapstick comedy for older ones and entertainment value for adults, too.”Yvonne Condes, Common Sense Media

All Kids Camp screenings are Pick Your Price – $1, $3, $5 – with 100% of ticket sales donated to local nonprofits! Simply select “edit order” in the checkout process to select your ticket amount. This December’s beneficiary is Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas.
